Dr. Dino Patti Djalal

Dr. Dino Patti Djalal is the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States, a speech writer, youth activist, academic and national bestselling author.

He was named as the Indonesian Ambassador in May 2010 and presented his credentials to the President of the United States on September 16, 2010. He was previously a Special Staff for International Affairs and Presidential Spokesperson for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2004-2010). Dr. Djalal first joined the Department of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia in 1987. He was posted to Dili, London and Washington DC, before being appointed as Director for North American Affairs (2002-2004). 


Dr. Djalal is a member of the Governing Board of the Institute for Peace and Democracy, which was established by the Bali Democracy Forum, and a member of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Council on World Affairs.


In 2010, Dr. Djalal received the Bintang Jasa Utama medal from President Yudhoyono, one of Indonesia’s highest awards for distinguished service. In 2012, he received the Indonesia Marketing Champion 2012 award for the government and public services sector and the Marketer of the Year 2012 award from the Indonesian Marketing Association, MarkPlus Inc., and Marketer.


He is considered by social media networks to be among one of 5 most influential Indonesian politicians whose means of communicating by Twitter is regarded as prolific (3rd most influential Indonesian politician tweeter).
